New to troubleshooting a Raven MPV 7100

OK here goes:

The mower ran perfect when I out it in the garage in the Fall. I started it twice in the winter to keep the batteries up. (that failed:)

Now:

1. When I shut the deck blades off the mower engines dies. 
2. Sometimes when I press on the peddle to move forward it does nothing but if I go in reverse first and then forward it moves as it should.
3. Does anyone know where to get a charger for the 48v battery pack. The original is out of stock on Amazon. Is there a substitute that can be safely used?
