Hopung someone may have had this issue before or have an idea what to check. I recently had my raven repaired new carb and battery. And after i got the thing back everything was fine for a bit but after a few months the grass needed some attention so insug out the raven. For a bit everything was fine but after about 30 minutes of mowing the engine stopped. Tried to start it and would die again. Figured since the thing had sat for a pretty long time the gas could have gone bad so I drained the tank and put new gas in today. Still does the same thing. I even tried pressing the throttle lever on the engine and the engine rpms did increase but would still die. Has anyone ran into this issue before? Thanks for any help with this issue

Check the seat switch. Used to be a common problem.

Does anyone know what the readings I should be getting when I check the seat switch? I will refer to the pins as the correspond to the plug wire color they connect to. Here are my current findings.... Switch up All pin connections are open
Switch down Red to purple closed Black to green closed All other pin connections are open

I think that is correct, but unable to verify right now. Another way to check is to put the generator switch to "on" and see if it will run for a while, takes the seat switch and probably other things out of the equation. Good luck.

I am getting fuel to the carb at least it trickles when I disconnected it yesterday. Anyone have any clue where the fuel pump is so I can see if I crank the motor if the fuel pressure increases. Seems like it has gas to start and run for 1-2 seconds but then shuts off. Turn the key off and back on starts right back up for another 1-2 seconds.

I have this same exact problem, it also seems to be running a little off. Did not think about checking the fuel pump, will have to locate that dang thing first. I also found it will run for a bit after first starting it, but then it only runs a few seconds after it dies

Make sure you didn't accidentally bump the generator switch to the on position. This will cause the mower to start and then die as soon as you take the brake off and hit the throttle.

are you sure your oil level is up were it needs to be there is a senses low oil which protects engine.

I had this problem.. it is the fuel shut off solenoid on your carburetor. You will need a new carburetor, but for the mean time, you can disable the fuel shut off solenoid, though you will end up with some back firing when you turn off the machine.

How do you disable the fuel shut off solenoid? Exactly which part is this around the carb? After 20 minutes of mowing, the mower just shut down, deck and motor, (fuel gauge was still reading proper level). I have to shut off the key, the deck knob, put it back in neutral and then restart. As I continue to mow, I can sometime get a few seconds to a few minutes before the mower shuts off and have to re-perform start up over and over. I'm assuming this may be fuel, but not sure if it's electrical. The exhaust screen is missing, air filter is new, spark plug is good. Can't seem to figure this one out...

I will try that. If it were to run longer, that would be something vacuum related I suppose? My neighbor and I switched out a few pump and it was the exact same one for a John Deer mower and it ran well for a few minutes, then acted up again. Seems to be pointing to that cut off solenoid which will take apart after installing a new oil separator and fuel pump. One modification fix may be to cut the needle (rod) off the cut off solenoid. Of course this would require installing a simple $4 manual fuel cut off valve.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try this week!

Turned out to be a small white broken o-ring looking object stuck in first jet (restricting fuel from entering the 2nd jet). Not sure if this came from the original fuel filter or it was apart of the fuel cut off solenoid. We found the solenoid was in an open position when not power was applied to the switch. This would allow fuel to enter the carburetor's bowl. This fixed all the problems which included rough running/ stalling when mowing and sometime immediately stalling after start up, tiny bit of black smoke on occasion and backfire out the muffler when shutting the engine off.
