So after having terrible surging while driving in electric and gas mode I decided to check the two year old battery pack. I expected to find a dead cell or two. To my surprise the pack at the large grey connector was at 49 volts. I then started the engine and tested charging voltage with the pack still disconnected and found 74V. I also learned the drive will not engage when the pack is disconnected. Called Raven and was told my AVR was bad and it needed to go in for service. After failing to find anyone to work on it, I realized I was making a mistake and retested the charging voltage with the pack connected. Then I had 62.8V (15.7V per battery) which is still slightly high but the machine had been sitting for a week and ambient temperature was only 30 degrees. While playing around discovered charging voltage can also be checked at the deck plug without needing to pull the deck switch. In the process I did also find the cause of my surging concern. The small piece of tin that fits in the seat cushion springs and makes contact with the seat switch and misaligned and the switch was not sitting in it's bracket properly. Runs great now.
