So if anyone is willing to take the $4500 plunge... a pair of tesla subpacks would NOT fit, but be similar weight, massively more power... ie mow on battery alone for a while (30 min or more, maybe an hour before recharge). Would extend range as EV for many miles. I'm in the Charlotte, NC area if anyone else wants to toy with the idea.

I ordered the replacement starting battery from DGP and it's the Apex. I hate that I can't put the cover back on. Seperatly, I'm having problems with the mower not moving when in gas mode. The battery light is yellow and I can barely get it to go. My question is, can I order 3 more Apex batteries and transition my 1 fairly new existing Apex battery to the battery bank if the problem is that my 48V batteries are old?

No, they cannot be interchanged. The starter battery is 9ah and the batteries for the 48v are 20ah. They are different sizes as well. You can try ProPower batteries and they should have the First Power batteries. BatteryShark has a Sigma Tec brand and I have used both in the past.
Send me an email to shawnee28021@gmail.com and I will try to help you get back up and running again.

I took out my battery pack yesterday. 3 of the 4 batteries were reading 4.4 - 6.5 volts. 1 battery was at 12 volts. I charged them and came up with a total of a little over 33 volts. I threw them back in. I am going to run the machine for a half hour or so today, and see if it will budge. I also ordered 4 "First Power" batteries from amazon for a total of $192.00. I should have them in 2 days. I also ordered the "Tempest" battery charger "BC-48-3000", and dongle "TCA-29" from "Batteryspec.com" $73.54 with shipping. I should be good to go. My wife won't have to push me around any more to use the generator. BTW, just moved to Eastern NC 2 weeks ago. Looks like a category 3-4 hurricane on Thursday (batteries, on Wednesday). I wish the generator had 240 volts also. I don't mean to complain. 120 will power some stuff if need be. Thank you for all of the help. I will keep you posted. I have plans in the works for a volt meter on the dash Did you by chance install the volt meter in the dash?
