Had the 7100 for almost a year now - and in the last month or so it seems to be suffering from constant overheating. The ambient temperatures are pretty warm at the moment - but it didn't do this last summer... I am assuming it is overheating - after about 15-20 minutes of mowing the engine slowly cuts out. I can start it immediately again, but it will cut out again after a minute. Leaving it overnight I can then repeat the process. Things I have checked - Engine Oil - done an oil change and checked oil level
- New spark plug
- New air filter (the replacement filter from Lowes didn't include a new screen, so I just washed the original)
- Cleaned debris off engine, fan etc
I emailed Raven earlier this week but haven't heard back yet.
Anyone seeing something similar, or have any advice on what to troubleshoot?

Hi.. Not sure is you have got the overheating figured out yet however I do know that emails to DGP go unanswered. You would need to call them.

If you haven't figured this out yet. Call Raven instead of e-mailing them. The problem is probably not an engine overheating issue. I had the same thing happening. I replaced the 48 volt battery (nope). I replaced both cotnrollers (nope). I replaced both blade moters (YUP). There is a sensor on the moters which reads the generator output. If the overvolt sensor trips the machine takes the safe way out and shuts everything down. Apparently there were a few bad motors shipped when you (and I) bought our Ravens. Since replacing the blade motors everything went well.

The e mail hasn't worked since they started it. I'm not thinking your over heating but seat switch my be bad try jumping it out of system. Check your fuses under seat see if they are pushed all the way make your speed switch is locked in tight under flooring deck. Recheck oil level and level service did this happen after you changed your oil?

I will state a fact I can't see it over heating I have had it 3 years and run dog poop out of it I let generator part run 10 hours while my house loss power never over heated and never loss and oil so sitting still would be a good chance it would sitting right.

I did eventually get hold of Mary at Raven and she was really helpful. In the end they swapped the unit out completely....
Fast forward a few weeks and now I have an issue with the new one! The engine runs fine, but the deck will randomly spin down and spend a few minutes trying to get up to speed again. Sometimes it does...sometimes not.
Again...a check of the voltage on the deck port looks good. But now I can't get hold of anyone at Raven!
