Hi All
I wanted to start a discussion about the battery pack. First, wow this is dumb. I understand why but the how is basically set up to fail. My raven stopped driving and I had to trace through the electrical system back to find a bad battery. The manual suggests the fuses but it should tell you to start with the idiotic battery set up. The reason it's bad is because there are 4 of them taped together and relayed. Bouncing around in that case, the lead connector bars (somewhat rigid) tore up one of the battery terminals inside and so I lost drive power. The entire concept of using 4 batteries in a rigid relay, taped together is ridiculous and literally designed to destroy the batteries in this way.
My question to the forum is: Has anyone found a single replacement 48v battery that will both replace the "pack" and fit in the case? I saw some ebike (electric bike) batteries that look like they would do the trick but I wanted to get some thoughts before I go experimenting.
I would also ask if anyone has come up with a better way to stabilize the 4 batteries in relay, other than duck tape. Honestly, it boggles my mind what the engineers could have been thinking. I have to replace the batteries and I am probably going to relay them with wire, rather than use the leaded bars, simply to make them more flexible given the nature of the jostling in the rear, but I am open to other suggestions.
Thanks!
